Part of the reason they're remembered fondly is because they were awesome when they DID happen. The thing is - the whole "filler is so bad it takes multiple episodes to power up while screaming at one another" is one of those memes about dragon ball that isn't technically true. It's the only beam struggle to last more than one episode, although it technically began just before the 190th episode ended but did last through the following episode, drawn out by filler and drama as per the usual pacing problems of DBZ's original run.īut yes, otherwise, beam struggles not only didn't really happen "multi-episodes long" but they weren't even really *that* common in general. It happened once - Gohan's and Cell's Kamehameha clash.
